Druid Announces Major Shift in Project Development

When Druid Gameworks first began its foray into indie game development one of the most important things we had to decide was which engine would power our games. It wasn't a decision we could make lightly as there were a number of factors to consider such as could the engine handle the demands of a truly open RPG environment? Was the licensing fair and equitable? Could the engine grow with our company? We got our hands on several engines available to indie studios and gave each one a fair run through its paces, weighing the pros and cons of each. In the end, we decided the Havok Vision Engine was the best choice available at the time.

Things have changed.

A First Look at the Tribes in Dreamtime

A First Look at the Tribes of Dreamtime

Dreamtime centers on the world and subcultures of an anthropomorphic bear race we call, the Ursines. Many might remember the first Ursine concept renders we shared during our Kickstarter campaigns last year. Working on Dreamtime has given us an opportunity to really explore the Ursine world in a way we might not have been able to for Echoes of Twilight; where Ursines are just one race among several. Our Ursine race was originally designed around Native American type tribal cultures which are highly unique and varied depending on where the tribes originate from, so we decided to bring that element into Ursine culture as well

Beyond Kickstarter: What Happens Next?

Our second Kickstarter campaign has come and gone now. We’ve put our best foot forward for our current state of development and while we’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished together, it doesn’t look like the crowd funding climate is in our favor at this time. Our deepest thanks go out to those who have pledged, re-pledged, and tried desperately to get us to our goal; you guys are amazing, thank you SO much for all of your support!

Now that our time on Kickstarter has come to an end, let’s talk about what happens next?

Gearing up for Kickstarter

Gearing Up for Kickstarter

Hey Guys, some of you may be aware already but Druid Gameworks is getting ready to run our first (and hopefully only) Kickstarter campaign to raise the needed funds for our project budget. While we've been fortunate enough to secure committed private investors to lend their coins to the pile it isn't enough to cover every expense a project like this requires.

If successful, our Kickstarter campaign will allow us to license additional hardware and software we require, like SpeedTree! SpeedTree is a program that creates high quality plant life quickly while keeping the models optimized for the best gameplay performance. It integrates with our engine seamlessly, and will shave weeks off our development time as our engine allows us to paint the SpeedTrees right into our world with a brush stroke!

A First Look: Druid Gameworks Reveals

After weeks of pre-production development and planning Druid Gameworks is finally ready to ease the lid up and offered a public glimpse of our current project, working title:

Unwritten: Echoes of Twilight

From the main project page Unwritten: EoT, is "a single player, open world, role playing adventure game that combines the visual appeal of modern graphics and animation technologies with the classic role-playing elements hardcore RPG gamers love. In modern games, immersion, interactivity, and customization are often watered down by major studios, resulting in diluted replay value and degradation of the “role play” nature of the games."
